RAMPAGE 2025 CHAMPIONSHIP EXPLAINED
The Rampage 2025 Championship consists of four events held throughout the year, where riders compete across multiple stages in each event. The goal is to create a consistent, exciting, and competitive environment for riders of different skill levels and navigation classes.
Structure of the Championship
- Four Events: The Rampage 2025 Championship includes four major events (ODC1 through ODC4), each featuring multiple stages.
- Two Navigation Classes: Riders compete in two classes—Roadbook and GPX—each with different navigation styles, offering unique challenges.
- Stage-based Scoring: Points are awarded for each stage, and riders' performances contribute to their overall score for the championship.
- Participation Flexibility: Riders can miss one or more events during the year and still be in the running for the championship. Only their best stages will be used to determine their final score.
Fairness in Scoring
The Rampage Championship ensures fairness across both the Roadbook and GPX classes by applying a scoring system that considers the different challenges each navigation method presents. Although both classes compete in the same event, their scoring is kept separate to maintain a fair competition.
In order to level the playing field, a small handicap is applied to the GPX class. This is to account for the inherent advantage of the GPX system, which is generally considered easier compared to the more complex Roadbook navigation. The exact values of this handicap will be refined and disclosed as the season progresses.
Scoring System
- Stage Scoring: Points are awarded based on each rider's position at the end of each stage, with the winner receiving the maximum points and subsequent places awarded decreasing points.
- Penalties: Time penalties for missed waypoints or speeding violations are applied to riders' total stage times, which impacts their stage score.
- Best Stages: Only a rider's best stages will be considered for the final championship tally, allowing riders to miss some stages or events while still having a chance to compete for the overall title.
Final Thoughts
The Rampage 2025 Championship is designed to reward skill, consistency, and endurance over the course of the season. By providing flexibility for riders and implementing a fair handicap system, we ensure that the championship remains competitive for all participants, regardless of their navigation class.
