Rampage News – March 2025

This is available online at: https://www.rallyrampage.com/rampage-march-2025-newsletter/

Hey Rampager,

Welcome to the March 2025 edition of the Rampage Newsletter. A lot has happened since our last update, and we’re excited to bring you all the highlights, updates, and plans for what lies ahead.

What’s in this newsletter:

Rampage ODC #1 Recap

We kicked off our first official One Day Challenge (ODC) of the year, which also launched the 2025 Rampage Championship. The event was a major success with a great turnout, challenging navigation, and fantastic rider spirit. The route was shortened to 350km (from 380km) to avoid high-risk muddy sections and ensure riders returned before dark. Despite changes, it retained its scenic and technical charm with three unique stages and digital navigation via the RBR app.

Unfortunately, our last 4 outrides, events, and recces led to 5 medical situations needing hospitalisation. Everyone is recovering and should be back riding soon.

Rampage Championship 2025

This is the first year we’re running a proper Rampage Championship! All 4 ODC events count, with cumulative stage results shown on our Championship Scoreboard. We’re working on a system to count your best stage results, so missing one ODC doesn’t disqualify you. Riders from across SA – Cape Town, Hoedspruit, Prince Albert, and even Canada – are part of the journey.

Year-End Function & Awards

We’re planning a special Rampage Year-End Function with a fun outride in the morning, a chilled braai, and awards in the afternoon. This will also be the final event for the 2025 Rampage Championship. Keep that last Saturday in November open!

Giants Rally 2025

Rampage entered this year’s Giants Rally with Ruben (my son) and Heine from ADA as our core team. Three days of full rally format in Botswana – proper rally navigation, roadbooks, timing and speed zones. The event was again hosted by Muddyface and led by Ross Branch and Lola.

Massive thanks to the organisers – if you missed it, book for next year!

Safari 1000 & FIA W2RC Update

Last year, Rampage managed the bike category of the Safari 1000 Rally – one of the largest cross-country events in SA – and it was audited by ASO (the organizers of Dakar). This year is even bigger: South Africa is hosting the third leg of the FIA World Rally-Raid Championship (W2RC) at Sun City, again names the Safari 1000 Rally.

Rampage and ADA has been selected to supply route marshals, gate controllers, and support riders for the event to assist the competitive riders. We’ll be out there with our branding, radios, tools and backup – ensuring competitors and spectators are safe and supported. The event will see most of the international W2RC competitors including our own locals such as Martin Camp, Alex, Yuvi, and of course Ross Branch to mention a few. We’re proud to play a part in bringing rally racing to our backyard!

That’s it for this newsletter and we hope we covered it all.

See you on the trails!
