Event Summary
Rampage Rally -Jacaranda Rally R – One-Day-Challenge
Rampage Rally closes off the 2026 season with a brand-new One-Day-Challenge – the Jacaranda Rally 'R'! Starting and finishing at Urban Fields, Tierpoort, Pretoria, this urban off-road rally will take riders on a massive loop around the capital. With both RED and BLACK route options, it’s set to be a full day of navigation, grit, and adventure.
The RED Route covers over 350 km across three stages with multiple fuel stops, while the longer BLACK Route stretches to 450 km, including tougher sand sections. Expect 6–8 hours in the saddle, with a mix of farm tracks, sand, single-track, and just enough tar (±20%) to connect the dots.
This is a non-competitive, self-paced rally format, offering an authentic experience for adventure and rally riders. Navigation is done with GPX or the digital roadbook via the RBR App (Android), and for those without navigation equipment, a Follower Class is available. Please note: Garmin devices are not permitted.
Navigation Classes Available for both RED and BLACK routes:
- Class 1: Mobile Interactive Roadbook (Waypoints & tracking via RBR App – Android)
- Class 2: Mobile Interactive GPX Tracks (Waypoints & tracking via RBR App – Android)
- Class 4: Follower Class (Ride the rally by following another rider, no navigation required)
As the final ODC of the year, the Jacaranda Rally also contributes to the informal Rampage Championship — where every stage completed earns you points on the board. No podiums, no racing licenses, just a tough, full-day rally adventure to end the season in true Rampage style.

Routes
Gauteng, South Africa
The event starts and finishes at Urban Fields, Tierpoort in Pretoria East. From there, the Jacaranda Rally takes riders anti-clockwise around the capital in a full circumnavigation. The route stretches goes through Hammanskraal, through Garankuwa and Soshanguve, before opening up into some incredible off-road riding in the De Wildt area (without the “3 fences” section). From there, it circles around Hartbeespoort Dam before dropping south with a final liaison through Centurion and back to the finish.

Nav Method
Navigation for the ODC is done primarily using an Android mobile device, either your mobile phone or tablet with our RBR app. If you have a rugged version of a device, even better. You don’t need anything else other than your bike and your mobile device for navigation. Your device must be mounted on your bike for navigation purposes in clear view while you ride. Any additional equipment or setup is welcome, such as rally towers, Bluetooth navigation buttons, or similar.
This event will use the RBR app to track the riders performance, waypoints and speed zones. Due to this controlled route access, no "GPX file" will be available. Once you have entered, you will get your route on the RBR App.
Timing and tracking of your ride is done by the RBR app on your Android device.
Luckily, using our app, the routes are locked and secure.

Nav by Mobile App
For this event, the RBR app will now utilize the full event platform, allowing riders to download their routes directly on the morning of the event for offline use. This streamlined process eliminates the need for manual PIN entry.
The interactive roadbooks and GPX routes on the RBR app offer waypoint tracking, scoring, and a fully immersive riding experience. This advanced functionality is exclusive to Android devices, enhancing the navigation and engagement for all participants.
Riders are encouraged to have a backup device to ensure uninterrupted navigation.

RBR Roadbook & GPX App (Android)
Arguably the best kept secret in the rally world, RBR Roadbook Reader.
The RBR app (Roadbook Reader) is a robust digital roadbook navigation tool for rally events. It offers waypoint and speed zone-aware navigation, autoscroll functionality, adjustable odometers, customizable layouts, and compatibility with external Bluetooth remotes. Riders can navigate using either roadbooks or GPX trails, and the app's intelligent design ensures a smooth navigation experience. It supports features like real-time tracking, speed zone indicators, and customizable settings. This app enhances rally navigation and provides users with a seamless riding experience using modern digital tools.

Rampage uses the RBR app as its go-to tool for navigation in rally events due to the features it offers adventure bike riders, not just rally racers. Key benefits when using the digital interactive roadbook include:
- Auto Scroll: No need for handlebar buttons to scroll the roadbook, allowing use without bike modifications.
- Countdown Distance: Ideal for novice roadbook riders, showing how far you are from the next instruction.
- Interactive Roadbook: The app isn’t just a PDF reader; it’s interactive, enabling waypoint collection, scoring, penalties, and speed zones like in full rally events.

Examples
Don't let your Garmin limit you!
For those wondering what its like to navigate using your mobile device and the RBR App, here are some screenshots and samples.
You will notice if you use the GPX Trail class, you get a line to follow for navigating. The Roadbook class has little more info but its a different technique. The actual route is presented on the app when you register a couple of days before the event on the app.
No more files to download or share, no more Basecamp syncing. Everything is online and once its on your device, it runs offline during your ride.
If you are use to navigating with your Garmin, which is not an available class on the upcoming ODC, don't stress, your mobile has your covered, and better
Navigation Classes for Both Red and Black Route Options

This class is timed and tracked using the RBR app with scoring and penalties. Your points will form part of the Rampage annual scoreboard.

Class 2: GPX Route
Line navigation on mobile devices with interactive waypoints using the RBR app.
This class is timed and tracked using the RBR app with scoring and penalties. Your points will form part of the Rampage annual scoreboard.

Class 3: Follower Class
No navigation is needed for this class; simply join the ride by following a group or another navigator. This option is perfect for those who prefer not to navigate but still want to participate in the adventure.
Please note that if you choose this class, you cannot switch to a navigation class later, as only registered navigators are loaded onto the event platform.

Bikes
The ODC is a tough challenge and rally-based event for you and your adventure bike.
It is not suitable for beginner riders. We do not dictate the bike size, but considering the terrain and technicality, small capacity bikes from 500 cc, 700 cc up to 1000 cc would be suitable, based on rider skill. The smaller, the better.
If you are a confident rider, the Rampage ODC is best suited for all road-legal bikes.
NO QUADS OR CARS!
Equipment Needed
Android Mobile Device for Navigation
To navigate the challenging routes of the Rampage Rally ODC, participants must use a reliable Android mobile device, either a smartphone or tablet. This device will run the RBR app, providing interactive waypoints and roadbooks essential for the event.
Mount the device securely on your bike for clear visibility while riding. It is recommended to bring a backup device to ensure uninterrupted navigation throughout the event.
Personal Riding Gear & comfort
Safety and comfort are paramount during the Rampage Rally. Each rider must wear appropriate personal riding gear, including a high-quality helmet, protective gloves, and sturdy riding boots. Body armor or a riding jacket with built-in protection is also essential to guard against falls and impacts.
Proper riding gear not only enhances safety but also improves endurance and comfort over long distances and varied terrains.
Basic Bike Maintenance Tools
Participants should carry basic bike maintenance tools to handle any minor repairs or adjustments during the rally. Essential tools include a multi-tool, tire repair kit, air pump, spare tubes or tire plugs, and a set of wrenches.
Being prepared with these tools ensures you can quickly address common issues like punctures, loose bolts, or chain adjustments, allowing you to stay on track and enjoy the rally without significant delays.
Skills Required
Good riding fitness for daily distances over 400 km per day, including liaison and special stages.
Confidence, endurance and perseverance with good riding skills.
Basic but good navigation skills (unless in the Follower class).
Good spirit and a sense of humour and adventure.
