Introduction
Welcome to your Rampage Bluetooth Controller. Designed for simple, reliable button control for supported navigation and roadbook apps on your phone or tablet. It is easy to power, quick to pair, and built to provide a smooth and practical control experience in the field.
Core Connectivity
The controller is powered through a USB-C cable and communicates with your mobile device over Bluetooth.
Important Power Note
This controller has no internal battery. It must remain connected to a live USB-C power source to operate.
Quick Start Guide
Power On
Connect to a suitable 5V USB-C power supply. The controller will not start without external power. The LED will begin flashing to show it is advertising over Bluetooth.
Pair Device
Open Bluetooth settings on your Android device, look for your Rampage controller, and select Pair. Allow a few seconds for the connection to register.
Quick Function Test
Press the top two buttons. These act as volume up and volume down. If the tablet volume changes, the controller is powered and paired correctly.
Bluetooth Pairing
First-Time Setup
- Ensure the controller is powered from USB-C and the LED is flashing.
- Ensure Bluetooth is ON on your device.
- Look for your Rampage Bluetooth Controller in the Bluetooth list.
- Select the device and choose Pair.
- Use the top two buttons to confirm volume up/down is working.
LED Status Indicators
- Flashing: Powered and ready to pair
- Connected: Active Bluetooth link
- LED Change: Mode selection active
Reconnection & Unpairing
The controller should reconnect automatically once previously paired. If it does not, use Forget / Unpair in Bluetooth settings and pair it again from scratch.
App Integration
The Rampage BT Controller sends button commands to your device. In supported apps, you decide what each button should do.
- Open your navigation or roadbook app settings
- Find the controller, remote, or button mapping section
- Select a function to assign
- Press the desired controller button to bind it
Common Assignable Functions
RBR Roadbook Setup
Recommended Setup Flow
- Power the controller with USB-C and confirm the LED is flashing.
- Pair the controller to the Android tablet in Bluetooth settings.
- Press the top two buttons and confirm tablet volume goes up and down.
- Open RBR Roadbook Reader.
- Go into the RBR settings area for controller / scrolling / marking functions.
- Assign each controller button to the function you want to use in RBR.
Common RBR Functions
- • Scroll roadbook forward
- • Scroll roadbook back
- • Reset trip
- • Adjust trip up / down
- • Set trip to diagram
- • Zoom or page actions where needed
Important RBR Note
The controller only sends button presses. RBR decides what those buttons do based on how you assign them in the app settings.
RBR Navigation Behaviour
RBR can be used in three ways during a stage:
- • Bluetooth Controller – main manual scrolling method
- • Auto Scroll – useful backup if the controller loses power or disconnects
- • Manual Screen Tap – tap zones on the screen, not swipe gestures
If the controller stops working, the stage can still continue using Auto Scroll or manual tapping inside RBR.
Advanced Operating Modes
Mode Selection
To change modes, hold Button 1 + Button 4 for 3 seconds. The LED will change to indicate selection mode is active.
Hold Button 1 + 4 again for 1.5s to save and exit.
Maintenance & Support
Water Protection
IP67 protection only applies when the USB-C port is properly sealed. If left open, water ingress protection is significantly reduced.
Power Quality
Avoid low-quality adapters. Use a well-regulated 5V source to prevent damage from vehicle electrical spikes.
Controller powers on but won't connect
• Confirm USB-C power is connected and the LED is flashing.
• Confirm Bluetooth is ON and you've selected the correct controller.
• Use Forget / Unpair and then pair again if needed.
Buttons don't do what I expect
• First test the top two buttons using tablet volume.
• Check your current Operating Mode (See Chapter 6).
• In RBR or another supported app, confirm the buttons are assigned correctly in settings.
The controller stopped working during a stage
• Check whether USB-C power was interrupted.
• Confirm the Bluetooth link is still active.
• Continue using RBR Auto Scroll or manual tap zones if needed.
