Providing your medical aid details is not compulsory, but it can help organizers facilitate emergency assistance if needed. In the event of a medical incident, having this information readily available can assist hospitals, ambulance services, or emergency responders in ensuring you receive the appropriate care as quickly as possible.
Rampage does not provide mechanical or medical support before, during, or after the event. However, where possible, we will assist riders by contacting their listed emergency contacts.
Any assistance we provide is purely to help facilitate support and does not make Rampage liable for any medical or mechanical expenses. We strongly advise informing your medical and mechanical contacts in advance that you are participating in this Rampage event, as they may be contacted by you, fellow riders, or event organizers in case of an emergency.
Terms and conditions(Required) I have read, understood, and agree to be bound by the full Rampage Indemnity Agreement, and confirm I am signing voluntarily and without duress.
RAMPAGE INDEMNITY AGREEMENT
Rally Rampage (Pty) Ltd — Registration No. 2019/065971/07
Registered in the Republic of South Africa
This indemnity agreement is entered into between Rally Rampage (Pty) Ltd ("Rampage"), a private company registered in the Republic of South Africa and the organiser of club-based recreational riding events, and the individual completing this form and participating in the event ("Entrant").
This agreement is presented at two points: (a) during administrative event registration via the entry form, and (b) during navigation registration via the RBR app at the commencement of the event. Acceptance at either point constitutes full agreement to all terms herein.
CHAPTER 1 — NATURE OF EVENT
1.1 Rampage events, including One-Day Challenges (ODC), Multi-Day Challenges (MDC), social rides, training sessions, and all other riding activities organised by Rampage, are informal, club-based recreational rides organised by Rally Rampage (Pty) Ltd.
1.2 These events are not sanctioned motorsport events, formal races, or professionally timed competitions. Any timing, tracking, scoring, or waypoint systems used are for internal club participation and personal achievement purposes only.
1.3 Rampage does not organise, endorse, or incentivise racing, reckless riding, or any violation of road laws, speed limits, or land access rules at any time.
1.4 The event is a club ride. When identifying the organising party to any person, including members of the public, landowners, farmers, or law enforcement, the Entrant may refer to Rally Rampage (Pty) Ltd as the organiser. The event must always be described and presented as a club ride, not as a race or timed competition.
1.5 By participating in any Rampage event, the Entrant acknowledges and accepts full responsibility for their own safety, well-being, and actions, and agrees to all terms contained in this agreement.
CHAPTER 2 — ASSUMPTION OF RISK & VOLUNTARY PARTICIPATION
2.1 The Entrant understands that any form of motorcycle riding, including off-road riding and adventure riding, is inherently dangerous and involves risks including but not limited to severe injury, disability, or death. It may also result in damage to or loss of property.
2.2 Specific risks include but are not limited to falls, mechanical failures, collisions, exposure to extreme weather, navigation errors, and medical emergencies.
2.3 The Entrant acknowledges that any injuries, damages, or consequences arising from their own participation—both during and after the event—are solely their responsibility as a result of their own voluntary conduct and the inherent risks they have accepted.
2.4 This indemnity extends to any consequences arising after the event has concluded, including but not limited to fatigue-related incidents on the return journey, delayed onset of medical conditions, or any other effects that can be directly or indirectly linked to the Entrant's participation in the event.
2.5 The Entrant confirms that participation is entirely voluntary and that they are not under any duress or external pressure to sign this agreement.
CHAPTER 3 — NAVIGATION & ROUTE RESPONSIBILITY
3.1 Rampage may provide navigation tools, routes, mobile applications, software, roadbooks, GPX tracks, digital navigation platforms, and other navigation aids. The responsibility to safely navigate remains entirely with the Entrant at all times.
3.2 The Entrant accepts that errors, missing details, or unforeseen hazards may exist in the provided navigation materials and confirms that they will exercise caution at all times.
CHAPTER 4 — PUBLIC ROADS, SPEED LIMITS & TRANSFER ZONES
4.1 Rampage makes every reasonable effort to identify and exclude public road sections from timed or scored event segments by designating them as Transfer Zones within the navigation software, RBR app, roadbooks, and GPX files.
4.2 The Entrant acknowledges that not all public roads in South Africa carry clearly visible speed limit signage, and that road classification and ownership information is not always fully documented or available. Rampage makes a genuine effort to identify public road sections but accepts no liability for any public road section that may be inadvertently included within a timed or scored segment.
4.3 All public road sections designated as Transfer Zones are explicitly excluded from any timing, scoring, or competitive element of the event. No incentive, reward, or standing improvement is associated with speed or performance on public roads.
4.4 The Entrant acknowledges that all applicable road traffic laws and speed limits remain in full effect on all public road sections at all times, regardless of Transfer Zone designation. Compliance with road laws is the Entrant's sole legal responsibility.
4.5 Rampage does not police, enforce, or monitor speed on public roads and accepts no responsibility for any traffic violation committed by the Entrant.
4.6 GPS tracking and ride data are recorded throughout the event via the RBR app and any navigation device used by the Entrant. This data is retained by Rampage and may reflect speeds travelled on public road sections. The Entrant acknowledges that this data may be accessed and used as evidence in any legal, civil, or disciplinary matter arising from the Entrant's conduct during the event, including disclosure to law enforcement where lawfully required. The use of this data is governed by Chapter 19 of this agreement.
CHAPTER 5 — TRACKING & NAVIGATION DEVICES
5.1 Participation in Rampage ODC events requires the use of a navigation device running the RBR app in either GPX or roadbook format. Tracking and route recording are an intended and required component of event participation.
5.2 The Entrant acknowledges that GPS tracking, ride data recording, and app functionality depend on device hardware, battery life, mobile data connectivity, and application performance. Rampage accepts no liability for any failure of a device, application, or connectivity that results in incomplete or absent tracking data.
5.3 The Entrant may follow another rider in the field but remains solely responsible for their own navigation, compliance with the route, and adherence to all event rules. Following another rider does not exempt the Entrant from any obligation under this agreement.
5.4 Where tracking data is unavailable due to technical failure, the Entrant's participation record and any standings implications will be determined at the sole discretion of the event organiser.
CHAPTER 6 — SCORING, TIMING & OFF-ROAD SECTIONS
6.1 Where timing and scoring are applied, they are based solely on waypoint completion and elapsed time on designated off-road sections situated on private or permitted land. Faster performance on off-road sections may improve a rider's standing in the event.
6.2 Timed and scored sections are limited exclusively to off-road areas where no statutory public road speed limits apply.
6.3 Penalties are applied for violations including but not limited to deviation from the designated route, missing waypoints, exceeding designated speed zones where applied, and conduct deemed unsafe or in breach of these terms. The existence of a penalty structure confirms that Rampage actively discourages rule-breaking and does not reward it.
6.4 The Entrant understands that standings and results are for internal club participation purposes only and do not constitute results of a formal sporting competition.
CHAPTER 7 — LAND ACCESS & ENVIRONMENTAL RESPONSIBILITY
7.1 Rampage makes every reasonable effort to identify land ownership along event routes and to obtain appropriate permissions from landowners and relevant parties prior to the event.
7.2 The Entrant acknowledges that across long-distance routes, land ownership information is not always fully available or accessible. Where sensitive or restricted areas are identified, Rampage takes steps to reroute or apply speed zone penalties to those sections.
7.3 Gate closures encountered along the route do not necessarily indicate that the landowner has refused access. In South Africa, many gates are closed for the purpose of livestock and animal control and do not constitute a formal prohibition on passage. Where Rampage has a reasonable basis to include such a route section, it may do so.
7.4 Where any landowner, farmer, or member of the public has raised concerns regarding speed, dust, noise, access, or rider conduct on any previous occasion, Rampage makes every effort to reroute future events away from those areas.
7.5 The Entrant agrees to conduct themselves responsibly and respectfully in relation to land, environment, livestock, and property at all times during the event.
7.6 The Entrant acknowledges that Rampage makes every effort to obtain permissions for land access but that the Entrant is responsible for any legal consequences if access is questioned or denied.
7.7 If confronted by a landowner or authorities, the Entrant must handle the situation responsibly and courteously.
7.8 Any trespass on private land, violation of access agreements, or unlawful conduct is entirely at the Entrant's own discretion and without the endorsement or authority of Rampage.
CHAPTER 8 — MECHANICAL, MEDICAL & EVENT SUPPORT
8.1 Rampage does not provide any formal mechanical or medical support during events. Any assistance offered by fellow riders or organisers is entirely voluntary and does not imply any liability on the part of Rampage.
8.2 The Entrant confirms that they are solely responsible for their own motorcycle's maintenance and roadworthiness prior to and during the event.
8.3 Rampage reserves the right to refuse participation to any Entrant whose motorcycle is visibly unsafe or unroadworthy at the time of the event, at the sole discretion of the event organiser.
8.4 The Entrant understands that medical assistance may not be immediately available in the field and that it is their sole responsibility to carry adequate medical insurance to cover emergency treatment, hospitalisation, or evacuation.
8.5 Rampage and its organisers accept no responsibility for any after-effects of an injury sustained during an event, including medical complications, missed diagnoses, or post-event fatalities related to the Entrant's participation.
CHAPTER 9 — ALCOHOL, SUBSTANCES & FITNESS TO RIDE
9.1 The Entrant confirms that they will not participate in any Rampage event while under the influence of alcohol, illegal substances, or any prescribed or over-the-counter medication that may impair their ability to safely operate a motorcycle.
9.2 Any participation while impaired is a breach of this agreement and is done entirely at the Entrant's own risk. Rampage is fully indemnified from any claim, liability, or consequence arising from impaired participation.
CHAPTER 10 — LICENCE & INSURANCE REQUIREMENTS
10.1 The Entrant confirms that they hold a valid South African motorcycle licence (or learner's licence where legally permitted) appropriate to the class and engine capacity of the motorcycle they will ride during the event. Participation without a valid and appropriate licence is a breach of this agreement and is done entirely at the Entrant's own risk and legal responsibility.
10.2 The Entrant confirms that their motorcycle is licensed, registered, and insured as required under South African law.
10.3 The Entrant is strongly advised to hold third-party liability insurance covering their motorcycle for the duration of the event. While Rampage cannot enforce the terms of any insurance policy, the Entrant acknowledges that any civil liability arising from damage or injury caused to a third party during the event is their sole personal financial responsibility.
10.4 Rampage carries
Rampage may use and offer its own cover. The Entrant acknowledges that this cover does not extend to individual riders, their motorcycles, their personal medical costs, or any claim arising from the Entrant's own conduct.
CHAPTER 11 — TRAFFIC LAWS, LAND ACCESS & PERSONAL ACCOUNTABILITY
11.1 The Entrant agrees to comply with all road traffic laws, speed limits, and land access conditions while participating in the event.
11.2 If the Entrant violates any traffic laws, trespasses on private land, or engages in any unlawful activity during the event, such conduct is done entirely at their own discretion and without the endorsement or authority of Rampage.
CHAPTER 12 — THIRD-PARTY LIABILITY
12.1 The Entrant accepts full and sole civil and legal liability for any harm, injury, loss, or damage caused to any third party during their participation in a Rampage event. Third parties include but are not limited to other road users, pedestrians, cyclists, bystanders, landowners, farmers, animals, and members of the public.
12.2 The Entrant fully indemnifies Rampage, its directors, staff, organisers, partners, sponsors, and affiliated persons from any claim, legal action, demand, cost, or liability brought by any third party as a result of the Entrant's actions or conduct during the event.
12.3 The Entrant acknowledges that any interaction with law enforcement arising from their conduct during the event is their sole personal responsibility and does not involve or implicate Rampage as a party.
CHAPTER 13 — LIABILITY WAIVER & INDEMNITY
13.1 The Entrant fully releases and indemnifies Rampage, its directors, staff, family members, event organisers, partners, sponsors, landowners, and any affiliated persons from any claims, damages, injuries, losses, legal actions, or liabilities arising from their own voluntary participation in any Rampage event, to the full extent permitted by South African law.
13.2 This indemnity is binding upon the Entrant's family, spouse, heirs, dependants, legal representatives, and successors. No action may be brought on behalf of the Entrant or in the Entrant's name by any family member, dependant, or representative arising from the Entrant's voluntary participation in a Rampage event. By signing this agreement, the Entrant confirms that their family and next of kin have been made aware of their voluntary participation and of the risks involved.
13.3 This indemnity extends to all future Rampage events the Entrant participates in unless revoked in writing prior to the relevant event.
CHAPTER 14 — EVENT CHANGES, CANCELLATIONS & FORCE MAJEURE
14.1 Rampage reserves the right to amend, alter, or cancel any aspect of an event at any time, including but not limited to routes, timing, waypoints, rules, scoring, and event format, with or without prior notice.
14.2 Rampage accepts no liability for cancellation or significant changes to an event caused by circumstances beyond its reasonable control, including but not limited to adverse weather, natural disasters, government restrictions, permit withdrawals, or safety concerns. No refund obligation arises solely from such circumstances.
14.3 This indemnity remains fully in effect regardless of any changes made to the event.
CHAPTER 15 — REPRESENTATION & INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY
15.1 The Entrant acknowledges that they do not represent Rampage as a business, organisation, or brand in any formal capacity. Any opinions, actions, or statements made by the Entrant are personal and do not reflect the views or positions of Rampage.
15.2 All information shared, learned, or obtained during Rampage events—including navigation methods, route details, processes, branding, designs, and any proprietary content—remains the intellectual property of Rally Rampage (Pty) Ltd and may not be copied, distributed, modified, or misrepresented in any form or media.
CHAPTER 16 — MEDIA CONSENT & USAGE
16.1 The Entrant understands that photos and videos may be captured during the event by Rampage, fellow participants, and members of the public.
16.2 The Entrant consents to Rampage using any media—including photos, videos, and recordings—shared or received via any platform, including WhatsApp, for marketing, promotional, or social media purposes.
16.3 The Entrant waives any claim or right to compensation regarding the use of their likeness in any media content related to Rampage events.
CHAPTER 17 — SIGNING FOR MINORS
17.1 If the Entrant is under 18 years of age, this agreement must be signed by their parent or legal guardian.
17.2 By signing on behalf of a minor, the parent or legal guardian confirms that: (a) the minor holds a valid South African motorcycle learner's licence or licence appropriate to the class of motorcycle used in the event; (b) they consent to the minor's participation; and (c) they accept full legal responsibility and liability on behalf of the minor for all terms contained in this agreement.
17.3 The parent or legal guardian acknowledges that a minor cannot legally bind themselves to a contract under South African law, and that this signature constitutes both consent to participation and full contractual acceptance on the minor's behalf.
17.4 In addition to accepting this agreement on the minor's behalf, the parent or legal guardian personally and unconditionally indemnifies Rampage, its directors, staff, organisers, partners, and affiliated persons against any claim, legal action, cost, or liability that the minor, or any person acting on the minor's behalf, may bring arising from the minor's participation in the event—whether during the event, after the event, or upon the minor reaching majority. This personal indemnity is separate from and in addition to the acceptance given under clause 17.2.
17.5 The Entrant confirms that they are signing for themselves only and not on behalf of any other participant.
17.6 This agreement applies not only during the event but also to any post-event consequences directly or indirectly related to the Entrant's participation, including but not limited to fatigue-related incidents, delayed medical effects, and conduct during the return journey.
CHAPTER 18 — RATIFICATION BY CONDUCT
18.1 Where any person other than the Entrant completes the entry form or accepts the terms of this agreement on the Entrant's behalf—whether with or without the Entrant's prior knowledge—the Entrant unconditionally ratifies and accepts the full terms of this agreement by: (a) participating in the event in any capacity; or (b) accepting the terms of this agreement via the RBR app at the commencement of the event.
18.2 Participation in the event or acceptance via the RBR app constitutes conclusive evidence that the Entrant has read, understood, and accepted all terms of this agreement, regardless of how the initial entry was completed.
CHAPTER 19 — YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION
19.1 By participating in a Rampage event, the Entrant consents to Rally Rampage (Pty) Ltd collecting and using their personal information — including contact details, emergency contacts, medical information, and GPS tracking data — solely for the purposes of running the event safely and protecting Rampage's rights under this agreement.
19.2 The Entrant's information is kept securely, used only as needed, and will not be sold, traded, or shared with any third party except where required in an emergency or where lawfully required by authorities.
19.3 The Entrant may request access to or correction of their personal information at any time by contacting Rampage directly.
CHAPTER 20 — GOVERNING LAW
20.1 This agreement is governed by and shall be interpreted in accordance with the laws of the Republic of South Africa, including but not limited to the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008, the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002, and the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013.
20.2 Any dispute arising from this agreement or from the Entrant's participation in a Rampage event shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the South African courts.
CHAPTER 21 — SEVERABILITY
21.1 If any provision of this agreement is found to be invalid, unlawful, or unenforceable under South African law by a competent court or tribunal, that provision shall be severed from the agreement to the minimum extent necessary. All remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect and shall not be affected by the severance of any individual clause.
21.2 The parties agree that the remaining provisions, read as a whole, shall be interpreted to give effect to the original intention of the agreement as far as possible.
CHAPTER 22 — ELECTRONIC ACCEPTANCE & RECORD
22.1 This agreement is presented and accepted electronically, in accordance with the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002 ("ECT Act"). Electronic acceptance of this agreement constitutes a valid and binding electronic signature and is legally enforceable to the same extent as any other form of contract acceptance recognised under South African law.
22.2 Acceptance is recorded at the following points:
(a) Submission of the administrative entry form, at which point the Entrant's name, the timestamp of submission, and the unique order or entry reference number are recorded; and/or
(b) Acceptance of the terms within the RBR app at the commencement of the event, at which point the Entrant's registered name, the timestamp of acceptance, and the associated event or entry reference are recorded.
22.3 Either or both of the records described in clause 22.2 constitute conclusive evidence of the Entrant's acceptance of this agreement. Rampage retains these records in accordance with Chapter 19 and applicable law.
22.4 The Entrant confirms that they are fully authorised to accept this agreement on their own behalf, or on behalf of a minor where applicable under Chapter 17.
